Night Shift Workers Lose an Hour of Pay

Night shift woker Unless you’re a year-round night shift employee yourself, you may have never thought of this. Employees whose scheduled shift runs through 2am lose an hour’s pay at daylight savings time.

It’s just the scheduled employees who are affected because their shift ends an hour earlier than usual.

Our time keeping software adjusts for daylight savings time so you won’t accidentally be paying them for that extra hour, but it might not be a bad idea anyway. Many companies are saying that it’s good for morale to pay the employees for that extra hour. It is hardly a bonus to get docked an hour just for working the crummy ol’ night shift, especially while the daytime employees aren’t also suffering from it.

Hi Joe. Unfortunately that is a question only your employer/HR department can answer because they developed the policy.
