When entering time on the Project timesheet, employees can select an item from three lists:
- Customers
- Projects
- Account Codes
Customers and Projects may be associated with one another during setup. For example, when entering time onto the timesheet, if you select the Customer “Eastman” from the customer’s list, then the project list would show only Eastman projects. Account codes are independent of the other lists, and are often used to represent a task, a location or a job type. For job costing-only, the customer list can be disabled in the Company Settings.
Some notes about lists:
- Each list has slightly different options. Check each one out so you know what options are available.
- If you’re planning to export data to QuickBooks, check the QuickBooks help pages for important setup information.
- Users can be granted access on a per list item basis. For example, you can allow John to see only the project named Unicorn and Jane to see only the customer Eastman. You can also pre-select default items for your users. In this case, John would not need to select Unicorn from the project list because it will already be pre-selected when he opens his timesheet.
